One of the best memories I've ever had...

So when I was about to turn 11, my Dad took me to see the Monkees at Rosenblatt stadium. :o)

They were my favorite band and the first concert I ever went to. I had all their tapes, and watched the show in reruns on MTV. All. The. Time. When the music would get too loud, I'd put on my headphones and blast it. Why I loved 60's music in the 80s, I'll never know, but I just did. When Dad told me they were going to be in town, he asked if I'd like that for my birthday present. I jumped at the chance and said YES! ;oD

It was July of '87, and a week before my birthday. I remember sitting there wanting to jump out of my seat and dance, but was too embarrassed to be like that in front of Dad, but I also remember being so overwhelmed I almost cried,lol... I was so enamored with Davy Jones, from the show, but I didn't care that he was older now. I still loved every minute of watching them all perform on stage right in front of me. ;o)

And so yesterday I found out that Davy had passed... I feel like it's a memory that I'll never get back, but I know it's one that I'll cherish forever. One of the rare times that I remember being truly happy with Dad without a care in the world; seeing people perform that made me forget about all the bad stuff that happened around me........ thanks Dad. ;o)
